Hello from Drim N.S.!

School Tour – Turoe Pet Farm

On June 3rd of June, we set off in bright sunshine for our school tour to Turoe Pet Farm. We had great fun in the playground.

The animals were great fun. The white donkey had given birth to a foal earlier that day. One sheep looked like he had no legs! We could pet the rabbits and we fed the other animals.

There was an old woman…

There was an old woman who lived in a shoe.
She had so many children, she didn’t know what to do.
She gave them some broth without any bread,
And kissed them all gently and sent them to bed.

We visited  Slieve Aughty Riding Centre to learn more about nature in our locality.

Learning about horses.

Tracie and Merel from Slieve Aughty Riding Centre visited us to show us how to care for horses  – what they eat, how to clean them and what equipment we need to ride them.

They also told us a great story about how Slieve Aughty was set up and taught us about local plants and animals.

Light and Shadow

We learned all about light and shadows. We also learned this poem.

My Shadow by Robert Louis Stevenson.

I have a little shadow that goes in and out with me,
And what can be the use of him is more than I can see.
He is very, very like me from the heels up to my head,
And I see him jump before me when I jump into my bed.

The funniest thing about him is the way he likes to grow,
Not at all like proper children which is always very slow,
For he sometimes shoots up taller like an india-rubber ball,
And he sometimes goes so little that there’s none of him at all.

He hasn’t got a notion of how children ought to play,
And can only make a fool of me in every sort of way.
He stays so close beside me, he’s a coward you can see.
I’d think shame to stick to nursie as that shadow sticks to me.

One morning very early, before the sun was up,
I rose and found the shining dew on every buttercup,
But my lazy little shadow, like an arrant sleepy head,
Had stayed at home behind me and was fast asleep in bed.

Seachtain na Gaeilge

I mí Márta, bhí spraoi againn i rith Seachtain na Gaelge. Ghléas na páistí i éide bréige mar charachtar éigean. Bhí Homer, Bart agus Lisa Simpson ann ó Springfield. Bhí an cochaillín dearg, síog agus banphrionsa ann agus iad go léir go hálainn. Bhí cupla buachaillí bó ann. Bhí taibhse (nó púca) ann agus bhí eachtrán ann ó pláinéad Zog.

Bhí gach páiste ábalta é féin a chur i láthair do na pháistí eile as Gaeilge. Iontach!

In spring, we sowed sweet pea seeds and watch them grow.
